Product Details

The .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire cartridge was developed in 2002 to deliver the performances of what many custom “wildcatters” had been developing since the 1960’s. Developed form the .22 WMR case with a necked down bullet to .17”, this cartridge squeezes extra ballistic results and almost instantly became very popular with both target shooters and varmint hunters alike. The energies generated by this cartridge threaten to rival those of larger centerfire cartridges but at a fraction of the price. Small wonder it has become such a widespread cartridge. The 20 grain full metal jacket bullet by CCI can achieve a muzzle velocity of 2375 feet per second with 250 foot pounds of energy. This is an ideal target shooting round generating a flat trajectory with consistent performance.

Founded in Idaho in the 1960’s CCI continues to provide reliably performing ammunition but is well known for the quality of their rimfire cartridges: manufactured with particular concern to getting the primer compound along the entire circumference of the rim, CCI cartridges have fewer reported instances of misfires, which is important whether in competition or in the field.
